Merino Fiber Batts

My new drum carder came today and I made a few batts from a merino fleece I’ve had in my stash a few years. These batts are so soft, so beautiful and no neps. A little VM but nothing crazy. I couldn’t be happier! The next step is to spin these up and see how…

Fiber Porn

I was sorting the fiber in the shop today while taking new pictures for the site. How lucky am I?

Shop Update is Live

Two new merino 4 oz hand-dyed braids are live in the shop! I have more coming in the next few days so watch this space for updates.

Shop Update 9/12

Tomorrow, Thursday 9/12 I’ll be posting these two beauties in the shop. They’re 4 oz. bumps of merino top hand dyed by me. The first is called SANTA FE and the second is called SWEETHEART. The camera struggled to pic up the turquoise in Santa Fe. I’m going to reshoot it before I post it….

Today in the Dye Pots – Merino Top

I’m dyeing some merino top this morning. A lot of fun, for sure. I’m not happy with the bleeding between the turquoise and orange. I needed to either hand paint that colorway or use a very low immersion in the pan which I’m reluctant to do with fiber. At least I can overdye it some…

Prepping Fiber for the Dye Pots

Tomorrow is a dye day so today I’m weighing out 4 oz bumps of merino top. This stuff is just gorgeous! Someone pinch me. How is this my life again? So lucky!

On Their Way…

Just shipped these little beauties to their new home. Aren’t they beautiful? I love when people purchase my favorite items from the shop. Does anyone else see a Christmas colorway here? I hope they love their new fiber and the super cute gift with purchase I include with all of my sales. There is still…

Fleece Elves

My little fleece elves are helping me sort a new merino fleece. It’s so much faster with all 3 of us working! If I leave it out over night, will they finish it for me? 😉

Today on the Wheel…

Some beautifully prepped alpaca fiber from Rock-n-M Llamas & Alpacas. They’re a Colorado company, and I like to support local companies. I have 3 oz in this gorgeous oatmeal color and another 3 oz in a creamy white. My plan is to spin them as singles and then ply them together fo a gorgeous drapey…

So Almost Done…

I have less than an ounce left of this to spin, and a whole other full bobbin of this spun on my wheel. Even though it’s not finished, it’s so pretty I just had to share. It’s a 12 oz combo spin of three different Malabrigo colorways. A franken-merino spin. 🙂

Combing A Merino Fleece

I’m working on combing a merino fleece I have. It’s not the greatest fleece, and part of that was my own fault. I was in such a hurry to wash the fleece I rushed it all through. So there’s a lot of VM and lanolin still in it. I want to get the fleece combed…
